Our Staff

Peregian Beach College Early Learning Centre has a highly qualified staff team.  The staff are long-term members of the Centre and enjoy and respect the children and come to know them well during their Kindy journey.
Barbara Wearing - Director of Early Learning

Qualifications: National Nursery Nursing Examination Board (UK equivalent to Diploma in Early Years) and First Class Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies

Barbara has worked with children and families for over 30 years. She has been fortunate to have worked in a variety of roles, with families and young children both in Australia and in the UK. During this time she has greatly enjoyed developing her skills and knowledge of different early years programmes.


She is passionate about ensuring that children receive the best possible early years’ experience, in which they are valued as individuals and where their childhoods are cherished. She loves to watch children blossom as they explore and engage in a wide range of experiences that excite and stimulate their natural thirst for learning. She prioritises building strong relationships between staff, families and children to create a positive environment where the best interests of the children are at the heart of all we do.

Jen Harbottle - Early Childhood Teacher 

Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts, Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Forest School Leader.

Jen’s passion is for delivering a fun, creative and loving environment for young children to learn and grow.


With experience of teaching in British, Australian, Canadian and Chinese schools overseas, Jen’s diverse approach to learning supports and nurtures all children.


As well as being an Early Childhood Teacher, Jen is also a qualified Forest School Leader and Outdoor Education fanatic, which is perfect for our surrounding bushland and outdoor green spaces here at PBCELC.

Katie McDonald - Pre-Kindy Lead Educator

Qualifications: Bachelor of Learning Management (Early Childhood)

Katie is one of our Early Childhood Teachers and leads our pre-kindy program. She has taught in a variety of early childhood settings for the past 16 years, including Queensland public schools, family daycare, preschools and long daycare centres. 


Katie's teaching and education style is all about empowering children to become confident, independent learners.  Her role is to support, facilitate and encourage children's learning while valuing routine & play-based learning.  


Katie feels privileged to guide & support children in their precious and magical early childhood years.

Helen Geraghty - Assistant Educator

Helen is an assistant educator working across both the pre-kindy and kindy room. She has been working with us since October 2020.


Helen has been working in childcare for 5 years and is studying towards her Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. She also holds a Certificate 3 in Education support and has worked in others schools as a teachers aid. She previously worked at Peregian kids OSHC.


Helen’s calm, nurturing and positive interaction with children supports their sense of belonging and worth within our centre.

Claire Gorton - Lead Educator 

Qualifications: Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care; TAA Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Claire has been working in Early Childhood Education in the Coolum area for over a year now and has recently completed her Diploma. She's a mum of 3, her Max is 13 and has twin girls called Ruby & Lily who are 11.

Claire is a motivated, fun and enthusiastic educator with a deep passion for her job and a love of working with children. She is also committed to building strong relationships which value the children, their families and the colleagues that she works with.

She enjoys watching children learn and grow whilst providing them with support in a nurturing environment to help build their confidence and develop individual skills and interests.

Claire has a lead educator roll across both kindy and pre-kindy rooms. She is looking forward to a fun year ahead at Peregian Beach College Early Learning Centre whilst extending my skills and expertise in early years learning.


Angie Bennett - Assistant Educator

Qualifications:  Certificate 3 in Early Childhood 

After having her son attend Kindy here at PBC ELC, Angie realised that being involved with pre-kindy and  kindergarten aged children was something that she really enjoyed.

She decided to change her career path from beauty therapy and went on to complete her Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care.

One of Angie's key strengths is her communication skills, enabling her to building close relationships with the children and their families. She delights in her role with the children and is committed and passionate about extending her skills and expertise in early years.


Shae Rosengren - Assistant Educator 

Qualifications:  Diploma of Early Childhood 

Shae has two boys who attended PBC Early Learning Centre and are now attending Peregian Beach College.


She has worked in early childhood for 14 years and enjoys her roll scaffolding young minds through their play. She believes all children are unique individuals and promotes their growth and learning with respect, and regard for their capabilities, ideas and interests. She places a high value on promoting inclusion and cultural diversity.

Lani Holloway - Assistant Educator 

Qualifications:  Diploma in Children's Service 

Lani studied Early Childhood Education and graduated at university in South Korea and worked at Kindergarten for 5 years. She has been working in the childcare industry in Australia since 2013.

Lani believes learning is happening all the time and it is important to make this ongoing learning experience safe, positive, and fun, nurturing the whole child as she strives to guide them into the next stage of development with confidence in themselves and an excitement for continued learning.

She respects each child’s individuality and supports them express their unique thoughts in various ways, such as art, music and drama. She likes to encourage children to take on new challenges using their infinite imagination and creativity.
